Tobacco Use and Prevention Education (TUPE)

TUPE Tier II funds are used to develop anti-tobacco education programs and tobacco use intervention and cessation activities in order to reduce the number of students in CA who begin or continue to use tobacco. Districts served under this funding are: Central, Firebaugh, Fowler, Kerman, Mendota, Riverdale, Selma, Sierra, and Washington Unified.

TUPE County Technical Assistance

Funding to county offices of education to provide leadership, administrative oversight, training, and technical assistance to all local education agencies in the county. All districts are able to receive service through this funding.

Youth Leadership Institute (YLI)

SHK has partnered with YLI to build positive and healthy youth development programs. The goal of the program is to engage youth as active leaders and resources in their communities and focus on how to identify and establish positive social norms when confronting the use of opioids and other drugs in their communities. School sites within this partnership are: Sutter MS (Fowler USD), Laton MS, El Capitan MS (Central USD), Firebaugh MS, Silas Bartsch (Kings Canyon USD), and Riverdale Elementary.

Department of Justice (DOJ) funding from Prop 99/Prop 56

Funding to ensure schools are following CA healthy safety codes, verify tobacco free campus certification, and work with local law enforcement to help with shoulder tap operations.
