Safe School Ambassadors

Safe School Ambassadors Program (SSA) is a *research-based, field-tested, proven, anti-bullying and violence-prevention program that results in:

  • Reduced bullying, including cyber-bullying, harassment, fighting
  • Improved school culture, student reporting and student retention

SSA program seeks out and empowers leaders and influential by-standers from the diverse groups and cliques on campus. These students are trained in nonviolent communication and intervention skills to stop bullying and violence among their peers.

  • SSA is student-centered. Why student-centered? Because students:
  • See, hear and know things adults don’t
  • Can intervene in ways adults can’t
  • Are often on the scene of most incidents before adults are even alerted
  • Determine social norms and campus culture

*Analysis of data collected shows a 33% decrease in suspensions in their schools while similar schools without SSA saw a 12% increase in suspensions over the same time period.
