Adventure Race

Coming Saturday, October 21, 2023 to Scout Island.

Think Survivor, Wipeout, Fear Factor, Amazing Race and you’ll have an idea of our Scout Island Adventure Race. Geared to challenge the minds and skills of high school students, it’s one of the only race events like it in the nation. It’s free to compete, includes a healthy lunch, official race shirt, 1st-3rd place trophies and happens the third Saturday every October.

50 teams of 4, two high school males and two high school females compete in a 2-3 mile race in and around the San Joaquin River. The course is redesigned from the ground up each year and kept secret. Neither teams nor coaches are allowed to see the maps and instructions until the day of the race. There is no way to practice for this event but physical fitness, team work, communication, problem-solving and risk taking are the basic ingredients.

Hey, coaches!! Get your high school teams assembled, in shape and ready to go for next year’s race! Who knows what clever challenges will be encountered.
